The Million Voice Project

The Pearson Foundation’s Million Voice Project Grant Program analyzes the perceptions of young people to provide educators with detailed student data that can be used to improve teaching and learning. An in-kind grant from the Pearson Foundation provides participating schools, school districts, and organizations worldwide with access to the My Voice Aspirations Survey for grades 6 through 12 (U.S.) and years 7 through 13 (U.K.), as well as resources including implementation support, school-level reporting, and the tools necessary to interpret the report data.

We have already committed to surveying one million students in 2011. Subsequent Million Voice Project grants and deadlines will be announced every year. All applicants will be informed of their proposal's status within two months following the application deadline.

The Pearson Foundation reserves the right to decline funding for budgetary items that are not consistent with the Million Voice Project Grant Program. Funding is based on a maximum of $5.00 per student for those districts, associations, and schools that meet the grant qualifications. For the current grant period, all surveys must be administered during the fall term of 2011. Repeat administration will be considered, but application for the Million Voice Project grants must be resubmitted each year.

Because the primary purpose of this grant is to provide My Voice Surveys to schools in order to survey students in grades 6 through 12 (U.S.) and years 7 through 13 (U.K.) about school culture, the program supports:

  • Public schools
  • Accredited private schools
  • School districts
  • Local authorities
  • State departments of education
  • Educational associations

Applicant institutions/organizations must demonstrate the ability, interest, and capacity to carry out the proposed work, which, at the minimum, requires schools to administer surveys to the entire student population enrolled in the appropriate grades/levels.
