After a follow-up and review of the actions and strategies related to the Guiding Principles of Self-Worth and Engagement, this full-day session provides an in-depth understanding of the third and final Guiding Principle – Purpose – and the two Conditions that help to create it in schools: Leadership & Responsibility and Confidence to Take Action. Participants will explore their survey results in detail in relation to each of these Conditions and extend their action strategies to address the needs demonstrated in their My Voice Survey data.
The second half of this third session will require students to be present. The student group should be representative of the entire student body: the Aspirations Coach will work with a planning team prior to the session to guide student selection, with the resulting number of students depending upon the school’s total enrollment and the number of staff members attending the session. The Coach will guide staff and students through a process of identifying the school structures and practices that address the survey and focus group results, and participants will learn and work together as they plan to raise the level of student voice and decision making at the school. As partners in making positive change, teachers and student representatives will leave the third session with specific next steps to improve Aspirations for all students.
